“The irony is that the whole idea of a
compensation culture is a myth anyway. It is very hard to win a claim for compensation and it can sometimes take years. It’s not enough just to be hurt in an accident. You have to prove the injury is a result of
someone else’s negligence. That isn’t easy. “The courts aren’t stupid. They don’t pay out tens of thousands of pounds for non-existent
injuries despite what employers and insurance companies might want you to believe”. “Research by the TUC this year showed that fewer
than one in ten people injured at work received any payment at all”. “And even the Association of British Insurers had to admit that the
number of people who make a claim is actually going down.” “We’ve all heard the stories of some getting tens of thousands for some minor
slip but those stories are little more than urban legends. We have to remember that multi-national firms and big insurance companies have a vested interest in belittling people making genuine claims. They don’t want
to pay because they want to keep their profits for their shareholders”. “The government is right to set about reforming the system,
especially imposing tighter controls of claims management companies”. “However, the fact that a small minority of people have acted
irresponsibly doesn’t mean that every claim is somehow frivolous or fraudulent. And it shouldn’t be used to stigmatise people with genuine claims.” For further

are free to instruct a Solicitor of your choice. Most insurers recognise this and will indemnify your chosen Solicitor to act on your behalf. We will apply to them on your
